Gas Injection
Gases are distributed underground through interconnected and numerous small, unconnected gas accumulations. Once gas injection into the aquifer has ceased, the large gas channels collapse immediately, and the small gas bubbles must first coalesce into larger gas accumulations underground so that the buoyancy pressure exceeds the capillary pressure of the pore matrix. Small gas bubbles remain trapped in the aquifer. The more uneven the geological structure of the aquifer, the more complex the dispersion behavior of the injected gases becomes.
We develop and manufacture precision gas distribution systems that ensure a safe and consistent supply of compressed air or industrial gases. Our focus is on efficiency, controllability, and operational safety.
Oxygen Injection Systems
In the pure oxygen process, small oxygen bubbles are distributed throughout the aquifer as active substance reservoirs. There, they form gas reservoirs with slightly reduced permeability. Groundwater is purified as the contaminated water passes through the created gas barrier, where a large amount of oxygen has dissolved into the groundwater. This gas barrier is an elongated element of defined thickness that lies perpendicular to the direction of flow in the subsurface.
Our pure oxygen supply systems enable targeted oxygen delivery for biological remediation processes. They play a key role in optimizing purification and degradation processes.
Air-sparging and biosparging systems
Compressed-air injection is one of the most common methods for the physical removal of highly volatile contaminants from an aquifer (air sparging) or for establishing aerobic conditions in an aquifer (biosparging). There are significant differences in the operational management of compressed air injections, as well as in the injection pressures, flow rates, and injection intervals.
We use air sparging and biosparging systems to support the biological and physical remediation of soil and groundwater. These systems promote the degradation of contaminants through targeted oxygen injection and microbiological activation.
